FOUNDATIONAL FAMILY SERVICES
Family involvement plays a vital role in a child’s learning and development. When families actively support their child’s learning, it boosts their growth and confidence and helps them thrive in school and beyond. Connecting families with services and timely resources creates valuable opportunities for children to succeed.
Foundational Family Services is part of the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), funded by the Ontario Government and is available to all families with children under 18 registered in the OAP at no cost.
Foundational Family Services includes a broad range of services and supports designed to meet the individual needs of your family, child, or youth. These services give you more tools to support your child or youth and participate in their ongoing learning and development.
Parent and Caregiver Workshops
Our parent and caregiver workshops provide practical ABA strategies and insights on various topics to support children with autism, including communication, behavior management, life skills, and family routines. 1:1 follow-up sessions are available after workshops, offering tailored guidance to address individual needs and goals.
Resource Support and Clinic Appointments
We’re here for you! Our Family Support team is available to provide support for:
- Navigating OAP services
- Funding options
- Referrals and navigation for community services
- School questions and supports
- Inclusive recreational activities and camps
- Completing forms and applications
Appointments are available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Evening appointments are available upon request.
Brief Targeted Consultation
This brief 6-week service includes coaching and strategies using Applied Behaviour Analysis principles (ABA) to address your child/youth’s individual strengths, needs, and goals. Consultations will be offered by phone, in-person or virtually through the TEAMS platform to help address a specific area of need (i.e., teaching a skill, setting a routine, creating visual supports, etc.).
Appointments are available Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Evening appointments are available upon request.
